T. Fisher Unwin Hardcover Very Good with no dust jacket
Book is tight, square and clean with ex libris. There is some foxing to the endpapers. The cover is a textured salmon cloth with gold imprints of the Mermaid Series. There is some wear to the edges of the cover and the spine. Also some of the color of the cover is worn in spots. The top edge of pages is still gilded. The frontis is an engraving of Steele's likeness with his signature beneath the image. There are black and white Victorian era graphics throughout. There is a biographical introduction and notes by Aitken. The volume contains: The Funeral; The Living Lover; The Tender Husband; The Conscious Lovers; The School of Action (fragment) and The Gentleman (fragment). The appendix are excerpts from court cases involving Steele. ; The Mermaid Series; 4 x 6"
